Developmental editing
This is the most in-depth service I offer, and it usually includes several rounds of editing. This is a great option if you’re interested in making sure your complete manuscript is submission ready. Feedback typically includes all of the following: A written editorial letter that is several pages long and single-spaced; a line-edited manuscript using Track Changes; a final round of manuscript polishing and written notes. Follow-up conversations are included with each round of work and communication during revisions is encouraged. Rates and payment terms will be set prior to any work. Payment is generally divided into segments throughout the work.
Partial or single-round editing
This approach can be helpful if your manuscript is still in development, if you have a specific question or concern about your text, or if you’re interested in feedback about just a portion of your work. Feedback typically includes a written editorial letter that is several pages long and single-spaced and a follow-up conversation. Rates and payment terms will be set prior to any work. Payment is generally divided in halves.
Consulting services
This is for anyone seeking one-time general career or craft advice or ongoing, one-on-one support. Consultation conversations may be especially useful for writers very new to children’s publishing, and they’re also a great tool for more established authors seeking a second opinion. Rates and payment terms will be set prior to any work. Available at an hourly rate of $175, minimum one hour requested.
Query, proposal, and synopsis critiques and/or editing
This is my most straightforward service. It usually includes a line edit and additional written notes as needed, as well as the option to ask follow-up questions. Query and synopsis feedback may also be added to developmental editing. Rates and payment terms will be set prior to any work. Available at an hourly rate of $150.
